The junior class visited the Lovett School on Monday to participate in their Lovett College Day. Representatives from over 300 colleges and universities across the country (and some international) were there to answer questions from the students and discuss the programs and activities their schools offer. Our students met with schools like Duke, Columbia, NYU, UGA, West Point, and Berry. This is the first step in the college process for our juniors; in October they will be traveling through North and South Carolina visiting six college campuses in three days.
The second grade is studying fossils and dinosaurs, and recently had a fossil dig in the classroom!

We are pleased to announce that The Heritage School is now officially certified as a Project S.A.V.E. school. This means that we have completed rigorous requirements, over the past three years, to implement a quality program of awareness, screening, training, and effective emergency response to promote a heart-safe environment for our students.
This certification helps to fulfill one of our Southern Association of Independent Schools accreditation goals - to promote the health and safety of our students, to maintain a heart-safe environment, and to be prepared for emergency situations. All of our classrooms have emergency manuals, CPR instructions, and medical and safety procedures "cheat sheets" on hand. We also have four AEDs (automated external defibrillators) around campus and have provided CPR/AED training to our faculty, staff, and coaches. Congratulations to Renae Smith, our school nurse and Project S.A.V.E. coordinator, for the successful completion of this worthy project. |

The Heritage Fun Run is the major fundraiser for the year for the Parents' Club. Students are encouraged to ask their extended family,
neighbors, and friends to sponsor them in the run. Students will receive a pledge form with sample wording to help each student explain our school goal and collect pledges per lap run. Students will be eligible for prizes, depending of the level of donations they collect.
For the first time this year, the Parents' Club is putting on this event without any outside help, so 100% of the donations raised will directly benefit the school. Funds collected will purchase and maintain state of the art technology equipment.
All EC-6th grade students get to participate in the outdoor Fun Run. This is an active event with music, warm ups, and students running or walking around a marked 1/16 mile track while volunteers count their laps.
The Fun Run committee is made up entirely of volunteer parents. Please consider volunteering! Contact Loretta Johnson with questions .
Box Tops First collection deadline October 22Box Tops provide an excellent means of raising money for our school without parents having to spend any more than they normally would. Many grocery store items, such as Cheerios and Kleenex, feature the Box Tops logo (seen at right). Please look for this logo on boxes in your pantry. Clip the box tops and submit them to the school before October 22. Each one is worth 10 cents for our school! Our goal is to raise $650 this year. We will collect Box Tops again later in the school year, so keep clipping the Box Tops even after the October deadline. You may drop them at any time in the collection bin in the library. Discount Card Reminder Many thanks to our EC-8th grade students for their hard work in selling the Heritage Community Discount Card. The money raised will be used to fund technology on our campus. If you have not done so already, please remember to turn in collected money and unsold cards to your student's homeroom as soon as possible. |
