Family Cookout and Open House
The admissions office will host a Family Cookout/Open House event on Friday, March 12, beginning at 4:00 p.m.  In conjunction with three Varsity home games - baseball at 4:00, girls soccer at 5:00, and boys soccer at 6:45, we will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, and drinks to ALL in attendance.  We'll be setting up our tents out at the athletic fields, and we would like to see all of our Heritage families there.  Please bring a guest family with you who might be interested in exploring enrollment at The Heritage School for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Heritage Student's Gift to the Animals

Gift to Animals

Instead of asking for presents for her thirteenth birthday, Heritage seventh grader, Shelby Martin, asked her friends to donate money to the Coweta County Animal Shelter.  Her friends, many of whom are Heritage classmates, responded by helping Shelby raise an amazing $500!

County Administrator Theron Gay was moved that "a young lady, a future leader in our community," would sacrifice her birthday gifts to help the animals.  The money she donated will go toward the new cat room, and Shelby has been invited to visit the shelter soon to see what her money has been used for.

Having grown up with pets ranging from cats and dogs to goats, a peacock, turkeys, fish, and a bunny, Shelby is a lifelong animal lover who wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.  We are proud of Shelby and her classmates for their remarkable service.

Teacher Dances to Benefit Community Welcome House

Lory PendergrastLory Pendergrast, a Middle and Upper School science teacher at Heritage, will be competing in the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce's Coweta's Dancing Stars competition on Wednesday, April 28, at 7 p.m., at the Centre for the Performing and Visual Arts, to benefit the Community Welcome House, a local safe haven for women and children. The Community Welcome House is a transitional facility that provides room and board, food, medical care, child care, and counseling for local women and children fleeing unsafe households.

Lory has been dancing since she was four years old.  She began teaching dance when she was in high school, and continued dancing, teaching dance, and choreographing in college.  It was through teaching dance that Lory realized her passion for teaching.
The dance competition raises funds for the Welcome House by allowing the public to vote online for their favorite dancer.  Each $1 donation constitutes one vote in the competition.  Every dollar vote for Lory Pendergrast produces a $1 donation directly to Community Welcome House.  You can purchase as many $1 votes and you wish.  All donations are tax deductible.

Please join us in supporting Lory's spirited performance by voting for her, as she competes for both the People's Choice and Best Dancer titles to support the Community Welcome House.  To vote for Lory Pendergrast, and to learn more about the Coweta's Dancing Stars competition/benefit, please visit the Dancing Stars website.  Please forward this information to your email contacts and post it on your Facebook pages!
