Educate DRUG TIP More than 1/2 of teenage girls and 1/3 of teenage boys use unhealthy weight control behaviors, such as fasting, skipping meals, vomiting, and taking diet pills or laxatives. Be aware of the risks these products pose to a growing body, and how easy it is for teens to obtain these products, as they are sold at drug and mass merchandise stores.
TECH TIP
8-18 year olds spend 7.5 hours a day using entertainment media, including TV, computers, video games, and cell phones. Promote a healthy weight and lifestyle by limiting your child's screen time and encouraging them to get active.
BULLYING TIP
Unkind words from peers can have a profound effect on a child's self-esteem and body image. Promote a healthy self-image with your child through praise and set a positive example by refraining from self-criticism.

HEALTH TIP
When plating up your next family meal, keep in mind the MyPlate icon, the new U.S Department of Agriculture symbol that replaced the food pyramid. According to MyPlate, over 50% of your plate should include vegetables and fruits. Pair with whole grains, protein, and low-fat dairy for a meal that's perfectly balanced.
