"Mom Making A Difference 2012 Unity Award Luncheon

We at MASK realize there are many moms in the community who are making a difference in the lives of children and families every day.

We would like to acknowledge women who are not only engaging and empowering their own families, but who go above and beyond to empower others as well. We are celebrating these change-makers and recognizing their efforts in the community.

It is in that spirit that MASK has created the Moms Making a Difference "Unity Award," which is designed to acknowledge other women and their passion for helping families. The recipient of this award will be announced at our Moms Making a Difference Unity Award Luncheon, to be held on March 29th. Their story and cause will be featured in the Moms Making a Difference section in the 2012 Back to School issue of MASK The Magazine.

Educate
Alcohol Gummy Bears

One of the scariest things about raising teens is the possibility that they might be influenced to drink. You can warn them of the dangers and consequences until you're blue in the face, but sometimes peer pressure gets the best of them. The American Academy of Pediatrics found that more than four million adolescents drink alcohol in any given month.

And what's more frightening, is how clever they've become about hiding the act from parents. Once upon a time, teens stole alcohol from their parents' liquor cabinet, and locking the alcohol away was a fine way to curb the problem. But today, their creativity makes it harder and harder to keep up with the trends. The latest trend in undercover drinking is especially savvy and literally untraceable.

Teens are using gummy candy (bears and worms, to be exact) to get drunk. They soak the candy in alcohol, let it absorb, and plop them in a plastic bag and away they go -- off to school, football games, wherever. If you saw gummy candy in your teen's backpack, you might think "no big deal." What's even more concerning is how appealing these eye-catching treats look to younger siblings and younger kids in general. Let's think about that for a minute.

As a parent, I have had conversations with our child to never take candy from someone they don't know. Now, I have to change that speech to include those they might know, too.

Give your Kids the Freedom to Explore the Internet Safely

The Internet puts the world at your child's fingertips and gives them the opportunity to explore, discover and grow  -- plus have some fun along the way.

Although the Internet is a fabulous resource, it simply wasn't built with kids in mind. Even with the best of intentions, children are still able to stumble across something inappropriate that you may be stuck trying to explain.

Perhaps your son loves watching YouTube videos but you're concerned about the other videos that he may see. Or maybe your daughter adores online games but you don't want her chatting with strangers while she's playing those games. This is where KidZui comes in.

Completely Free

The K2 browser is now completely FREE to download and use, providing a safe web experience to all kids.

Safe & Easy Exploration

KidZui gives your kids the freedom to explore the Internet, have fun, and build their sense of independence.

Easy to Use

The K2 browser makes it easy for little ones to search the Internet by providing suggestions while they type and displaying images with the search results.

Safe Exploration

The KidZui K2 browser is stuffed with millions of websites, games, and videos which are all pre-screened and approved by our editorial staff, teachers and parents like you.

Why Should You Trust KidZui?

As parents ourselves, we understand the need to feed a child's curiosity while providing safe boundaries in which they can explore. The company was founded on the belief that the Internet should be big, fun and safe for kids. But don't just take our word for it. Check out what some others have to say about our award-winning browser:
