Avocado Half Bird Bath

The Avocado Half Bird Bath is sporting snazzy hand applied stain colors. This one looks like aged copper. Your feathered friends will enthusiastically gather to bathe and drink on hot summer days. The carved, textured interior provides a safe foothold.

Another Fruitful Location

The Sculpture Installation during Waterfowl Festival Weekend in Easton at the meticulously restored Inn at 202 Dover (www.innat202dovrer.com) was an audience pleaser. Fruits and Vegetables were refreshing companions to the varied wildlife art displayed around town.

Two 21" hand stained Pears have found a home in the garden at a new Eastern Shore favorite, The Bartlett Pear Inn (www.bartlettpearinn.com). This is another fabulous Easton based Restaurant-Inn, run by husband and wife team Alice and chef extraordinaire, Jordan Lloyd.

Edible Fall Garden Ideas

A hint for next year: Think about Planting Veggies in the Flower Bed.

Swiss Chard has been a long time favorite on my dinner table, and in the garden. The colorful yellow, red, pink, and white stems contrast beautifully with the crinkled leaves & are gorgeous in combination with Pansies, late Mums, Bronze Fennel and both Italian and Curly Parsley

I also love the look of Mustard in the Vegetable Garden, so I move it out into the flower bed and shrub border.  Its curly green or purple-red leaves hold up well in cold weather and the deer don't seem to be attracted to the spicy flavor.

A third favorite is the Tuscan or Dinosaur Kale; if it weren't delicious, I would grow it simply as an ornamental. The blue grey foliage stands tall, adding a vertical accent and like other kale, it is very tolerant of cold weather.
