The third Hotel of the month is the Wailea Marriott. The kids and I checked in for 2 nights in the middle of our Spring Break. We arrived a bit early and our room was not yet ready. So we stored the bags with the bellman and headed out to the activity pool. I can honestly say we spent a great deal of time at this pool. It is the preferred family pool. The activity pool has a shallow pool with a play structure in the middle. It has a tube slide, ropes, water cannons, tire swing, and fountains everywhere. Behind this pool is a winding water slide, and a plunge slide into a deep plunge pool. We could and did spend hours at this pool each day.
There are 3 other pools at the hotel. One up on the hill behind the activity pool. The adults only infinity pool, pictured above. And another pool in front of the restaurants.

Our room was similar to the photo above, though we had 2 double beds. The rooms are all tiled, so try not to bring sand with you. Drives me crazy. I am surprised by the white bedding as I worry that my kids are going to spill on it. The GM at the Wailea Marriott is Bill Countryman, he was my F&B Director when I worked at the Maui Marriott. He sent us a fresh pineapple and a Mala Cookbook. The kids and I felt special.
I tried to sign onto the internet and had some difficulty connecting. Though eventually I called hotel maintenance and they had to put in a new router (?) Then it worked perfectly. Internet connection here is $14.95 per day.
The room has a mini fridge in it so we always bring some juices, sodas and snacks such as fruit, bagels and cream cheese, yogurt to have during the day.
The Wailea Marriott charges $25 per day for the daily resort fee. Included in this fee are Unlimited Local and Long distance phone calls, daily self parking, 1 liter bottle of water in room each day, Discounts at certain restaurants and shops. Plus you get 2 tickets for a Mai Tai or Starbucks coffee per stay. I don't drink either, so really had no use for those.
The Wailea Marriott does not have beach services set up on the beach. You can rent fold up chairs at the Activity pool and get towels there and walk down to Wailea Beach. We went with just the towels. It is a beautiful beach, great for swimming, snorkeling, walking and kayaking. The grounds at the property are real pretty and there are many perfect spots for photos. A couple nice trees to use with the ocean in the back, especially at sunset. And each morning I went out to walk the Wailea path for about an hour. You can go in either direction, walk or jog, it is a beautiful path all along the ocean front.
This hotel is a favorite of mine for families with young children. I personally like the activity pool as it keeps the kids highly entertained for hours. Though if you are a couple looking to escape the kids, the adults only infinity pool was really nice too. People there seemed very respectful of each other's privacy. You can rent the cabanas that jutt out into the pool area.
