Carnival Update

The Concord Carnival is May 4 from 5-8pm. Purchase tickets and sign up to volunteer at www.concordcarnival.com. We are still looking for grab bag donations plus CDs, DVDs, and books new or used.

Carnival is Coming.... May 5 from 5-8pm

First Notice 

Get your tickets and volunteer at www.Concord Carnival.com and please donate a small, new item to the Looney Loot Buckets in your classroom ($5 or less). These will replace mystery bubble. They will be 4 punches, and you will get a bucket, a small toy, or candy item. One bucket winner per child, not all will be bucket winners. Bucket items can include: gum, playing cards, small figures or toys, pencils, comics, etc. You may donate more than one item, since there will be two buckets in your classroom.


You won't want to miss out on the Concord Carnival Teacher Fun Buckets in the Media Center this year. Here are some of the exciting opportunities being offered by Concord's wonderful teachers:

  • Principal for half a day
  • PE teacher for your class
  • Lunch pizza parties
  • Ice Cream at Sebastian Joes and visit to Wild Rumpus Bookstore

Concord School Store
 
First Notice

The Concord School Store will be open during lunch on Fri., April 20 in the cafeteria. All kids are welcome to stop by during their lunch and stock up on pencils, erasers, sharpeners, folders and many other fun things that kids love!  Each month there are new things to choose from and most items are priced from $0.25 to $1.00 each  

 

 

Health Office Highlights

First Notice

Reminder: Following spring break the health office sees many students with severe sunburns. Please remind your child to use sunscreen during outdoor activities.
For the best sun protection:

  • Replace sunscreen every year.
  • Apply a sunscreen with at least 15 SPF before going outside. Reapply after time in the water.
  • Avoid or minimize sun exposure during the middle of the day.
  • Protect the eyes. Wear sunglasses.

Communicable Illnesses:  Reporting communicable illnesses to the health office helps us control the spread of illness. When your child is ill, please make sure that you leave information about the illness on the absence line or call the health office.
The communicable illnesses reported to the health office for the week of March 19th are:
Strep throat      3 students


Help your child develop good health habits at home. Wash hands frequently, cover a cough, and do not share eating utensils, combs, or brushes.

 

 

Help Needed for the Concord Carnival

Second Notice

There are only 6 weeks until the Concord Carnival!  We currently need help in two areas:


1. Books, CDs, DVDS, and Comic donations. Please send with your child and place in the office.
2. Grab bag items: We are in need 50 -300 of the same item for each grab bag. These may also be placed in the office or contact Lisa Solinger at Lisa@thesolingers.com for pick up.

Golf: Noon--registration, lunch, practice green and range open. 1:00 pm--shotgun start

Tennis: Noon--registration. 12:30-2:30pm--round robin play

Vehicle Day is Coming!

First Notice  

Come to Southdale Center on Saturday, April 28 for a chance to climb on a fire truck, drive a school bus and explore an excavator!  Vehicle Day provides an opportunities for kids to get in the driver's seat of many different types of trucks and construction equipment. It's sure to be a hit and is sponsored by the cities of Edina, Richfield and Bloomington. Edina Reads, a collaborative group between Edina Schools, the Edina Public Library, the Edina Community Foundation and the Edina Senior Center, will also be at the event with information on transportation books!

The Edina Resource Center is located in the Edina Community Center at 5701 Normandale Rd. It is a collaborative effort between the City of Edina, Edina Public Schools, and you, the community. We offer free services to anyone living, working, or going to school in Edina! Our goal is to strengthen individuals and families in Edina by providing connections to community information, resources, and services.  Some of the connections we commonly make are: city and community information, childcare, chore services, education (early to adult) family and individual supports, healthcare supports, immigrant services, tax assistance, housing, emergency help, legal/mediation services, transportation, and much more! Our services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL; and we are open year round.  You can contact us at 952-848-3936 or check us out online at www.EdinaResourceCenter.com  

 

 

Bike Edina Task Force Bike Rodeo  

Second Notice  

Bike Edina Task Force is sponsoring a bicycle skills event designed to teach bicyclists the skills they need in order to become better cyclists. By learning bike handling and traffic skills, one can enjoy bicycling more and reduce the chance of injury. The rodeo will be held on Sat., Apr. 21 at the Cornelia Elementary parking lot. Bicyclists from all elementary schools are encouraged to attend. This event is made up of a series of stations, each dealing with an important aspect of safe cycling. Participants will have their bicycles inspected and will then learn about and practice bicycle-handling skills that will increase their enjoyment of bicycling and could someday save their lives.
