Come to the workshop and party this Saturday!
June 27, 2010
Greetings!

This Saturday, July 3, I'll be hosting a workshop at my house in San Francisco from 3 to 6 p.m., after which we will have a party and potluck from 6 to 10. And you're invited!
I'm just in town for the weekend, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend Saturday!
The party at 6 is, of course, free. (Who has to pay to go to a party?)
The workshop from 3 to 6 is the usual $50. It will probably fill up fast so register online to be guaranteed a seat!

What about me? Where am I, again?

Well, since June 2 I've been in Loma Linda, California, undergoing proton beam radiation treatment to make sure my sacral chordoma doesn't come back.
Through July 2010 my mailing address is 11065-B San Juan Street, Loma Linda, CA, 92354, here at the Creekside Court Cottages, in this little bungalow in the back. It's nice. It's where all the cool people stay.
When do the next workshop sessions start?
New 8-week workshops begin Tuesday, Aug. 3, 7-10 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 7 from 3-6 p.m. (Assuming no delays here in Loma Linda.)
After long debate and consultation I am keeping the rates at $380 but shortening the length of the sessions to 8 weeks so we can do more in one year and have more flexibility for doing Creative Getaways at Marconi Conference Center. I'm especially thrilled to be starting the Saturday sessions up again. Note Saturdays now start at 3 p.m. so you can have more of your morning!
You said a potluck? You mean potluck potluck?
Well, not really like a sit-down potluck type potluck, I just mean that since we'll be coming back to SF the night before, we won't have time to cook and stuff, so don't be shy about bringing food, because it will get eaten and appreciated and everybody will feel good about it. But it's not like Oh, you have to cook or Oh, you have to stop at Lucky's and buy chicken or something. And it's not like we're gonna be making phone calls to coordinate dishes. That ain't gonna be happening. So don't worry about it. It'll work out. If you're up for a party, just come. I mean, I want to see you, not your food.
Friends! What are friends for?
Well, so all those weeks I was planning to go down to Loma Linda there was talk at Cafe la Boheme of a road trip to visit. I figured, sure, people talk about road trips but they rarely actually get in the car and drive, right?
So I've been down in Loma Linda for like three weeks and I'm driving my black rental Corolla down Orange Street in downtown Redlands, Calif. I have a date with a sandwich at the Olive Avenue Market. I'm mildly freaked out because I've just moved from palatial digs at the wonderful but tiny Dynasty Suites to my current abode, the Creekside Court, and I'm freaked out because I guess I just don't like change of any sort, and Caitlin calls like all casual like just what are you doing and how are things going and incidentally where, precisely, are you? And I explain I'm going for a sandwich and anyway later I'm eating my sandwich at the Creekside Court and I look out my window and there's Caitlin and Leslie! What a pleasant surprise! Here I am a little freaked out and a little whatever and there they show up like no big deal were in the neighborhood so what did we do, after my treatment we sat under the awning at Cafe Society in Loma Linda and we did our regular cafe-style writing practice, which we do every Friday at noon at Cafe la Boheme in San Francisco when I am there, and even when I am not there they and a few devoted others carry it on. So that was a treat.
Thanks, Friends!
