Event-Camp-Series Challenge

Are you planning a summer program in your area!

Girl Scouts in Kansas have long enjoyed special Service Unit day-camps and other programs organized by council volunteers! This summer, we are introducing a new challenge, open to all GSKH Service Units who plan and host an event, series, or camp between now and August 15. Recruit 5 or more new girls and 1 or more new adult to join Girl Scouts, and the program planning volunteers will be entered in a drawing for a special 100th Anniversary girl package! Please complete the challenge form after the event. Contact your MVP Specialist with any questions.

Need help getting started in planning for an Event, Series, or Camp? Check out the Event-Camp-Series Program Planning Guide.

Online Membership Registration

Have you tried out the new system?

Calling all Troop Leaders! Here's a reminder and a clarification about the online membership registration - parents and troop leaders both have the ability to re-new a membership registration or add a new registrant. However, please note that:

  • When parents/guardians register a daughter online, their electronic signature implies their consent for their daughter to join Girl Scouts.
  • When a troop leader is renewing existing troop members and/or adding a new girl or adult member online, Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland needs a parent/guardian signature on file.

As a troop leader, if you register or re-register troop members through the online system, please continue to collect a paper registration form with a parent/guardian signature for girl registrations, and an adult's own signature for adult registrations. Indicate on the form that the registration has been submitted online. These forms can be turned in to your closest GSKH office or mailed directly to the Wichita Girl Scout Center.

Thank you for helping us ensure the safety of our Girl Scouts! Remember, the online registration system gives troop leaders quick and easy access to their troop roster, and also allows for simple payment using a credit or debit card. If you have questions, contact your MVP specialist or our online registration help desk.

Focus On: Gold Award Mentor

Positions available across the council

The NEW Girl Scout Service Delivery Model specifies functions for staff and volunteers, at the community, service unit, and area levels, so that girls are best served across the council and volunteer needs are met.  Each month in your Connect eNews there will be a highlight of a volunteer position.

In search of professional women in all regions to mentor potential Gold Award recipients through the Gold Award process! Gold Award mentors help facilitate the award process, support the girls, and ensure that the award follows GSUSA's Standard of Excellence. Mentors are appointed for one year, and will sign a project agreement with the girl(s) they are mentoring. Girls are required to contact their mentor monthly. If you know anyone who'd make a great mentor, please have them contact Faith Martin. This is a great way to get some new volunteers involved with Girl Scouting!

Summer Volunteer Opportunities

Check out these fun ways to get involved!

  • Kayak the Water Trail! If you have a canoe certification and would like to volunteer on June 5 in Toronto (Woodson County), please contact Vesa Cunningham.
  • Summer STEM academies at Butler Community College! GSKH is offering two FREE summer day camps on June 11-12 and July 9-10 where girls can explore a future in Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering. Contact Stacy Ward Lattin if you're interested in serving as chaperone at one or both sessions!
  • Three Part Campout! Troops of Junior Girl Scouts, and their leaders, are heading to campout in Arkansas on August 8-11. We are in need of one volunteer with Outdoor Leadership experience to accompany GSKH staff and the troops, to help on-site. Transportation from Wichita will be provided. Interested? Contact Bill Gonio at 620-545-8310 or bgonio@gskh.org.
