Schilling Competitive with Hare for Primary Votes
Says voters are sick of the status quo

EAST MOLINE, IL--Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the Illinois 17th District, received approximately half of all votes cast, in both the Democrat and Republican primaries. According to the county clerk offices for the 23-county congressional district, Rep. Hare received 32,496 votes in the Democratic primary and Schilling received 31,645 votes in the Republican primary. Schilling said this is telling sign for his campaign, especially in a district like the 17th, that was designed for heavy Democratic turn-out.

"All across the country, we are seeing people stand up to the status-quo," said Schilling. "Voters don't like to be taken for granted and they shouldn't like it. Politicians often take their voters for granted and say things like, 'Illinois is a Democratic-State.' Voters are turned off by that. If you talk to most voters, many of them don't line up with just one party."

Schilling continued, "Illinois doesn't belong to any party, it belongs to the people."
