take the time to take a look to take a step |
It is not unusual for most churches to set many things aside or put them on hold as the Christmas season arrives. Once the new year has started, there is an enormous temptation to catch up--whatever that means. For some, it is returning to the previous schedule, for others it is trying to do the things that were put off prior to the Christmas season starting, and for others it is a return to a felt need to be busy.
In actuality, the beginning of the new calendar year offers a marvelous opportunity to take time to take a look before taking the next step. There is usually a lull in people's schedules because of school vacations, etc., so before reentering the fast pace, it's a good time to do an assessment of where you are and what your people need in their spiritual walk. |
