Phoenix, AZ - August, 2009 - The Hispanic Women's Corporation announced that State Farm Insurance is contributing $100,000 as Honorary Sponsor of the 24th National Hispanic Women's Conference, and Nely Galán, Latina media dynamo and power broker in the Latino world, will be presented with the National Latina Leadership Award. The 2009 Hispanic Women's Conference will be held October 1-2, 2009, at the Phoenix Convention Center SOUTH in Phoenix, Arizona. "In these challenging economic times I am pleased about State Farm Insurance's major contribution," said Linda Mazon Gutierrez, President and CEO of the Hispanic Women's Corporation. "Their continued commitment allows the conference to provide leadership and professional development to more than 2,000 participants at the executive and professional levels and creates scholarships to benefit Latino students," added Mazon Gutierrez.

This year's conference, themed Latina Power: Rising to Service and Change is shaping up to be a phenomenal event. Recipient of this year's National Latina Leadership Award, Nely Galán, will address the values of empowerment and entrepreneurship at the conference. Nely Galan, former president at Telemundo and current CEO of her own media company, has launched 10 groundbreaking television channels in Latin America. Galán was also responsible for creating and executive producing the smash FOX reality hit "The Swan", and as its in-house life coach, wrote the bestselling companion book "The Swan Curriculum". Recently Galán appeared on the NBC hit "The Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump." This year's first National Youth Leadership Award will be presented to high school junior, Toni Gutierrez of Palm Desert, California. Toni is a rising young Latina leader who works extensively with the National Girl Scouts Council. Last year Miss Gutierrez was the youngest emcee of the National Girl Scout Council Session, a conference of over 8000 attendees. Other invited honorees include First Lady of the United States Mrs. Michelle Obama,and Department of Labor Secretary, Hilda Solis.
