A Great Start!
On Thursday evening March 10, many of us met to begin planning the 2011 Party in the Park, set for Monday night, July 25. To read more about the evening, click here.
At the meeting, our gorgeous new image was unveiled by Greg Murphy, who graciously donated his work again. This image captures some of the darkness, hope and beauty we've all come to know. You may see this image, and learn how to contact Greg, by clicking here.
To join our continued planning efforts, you may contact the various team leaders to decide how you best can contribute to the night. Available opportunities range widely, with some requiring only a few hours of your time. Please visit here, and help us make this year's event a great success! |

Auction and All Hands Meetings
New leaders have joined this year's auction team. We invite you to join the fun and help RIS succeed by attending an auction planning meeting at Ewald Consulting in St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on April 12. For more details and to register, please click here.
We hope everyone is thinking about what they can contribute to this year's auction. For your full suite of auction resources, including great ideas and donation forms, please visit here.
This year's first All Hands Meeting will be on May 10 at the Wyckoff home, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a time for everyone to connect with the RIS community to share fellowship, share ideas, and work with your event planning team. All teams meet this night. To learn more and register for the meeting, please visit here. |
Dr. Jaime Modiano - Dog Doctor, Your Doctor?
University of Minnesota Professor Jaime Modiano is a "dog doctor," whose passion for treating his animal patients may translate into new medicine for you. Dogs get sarcoma cancers, naturally, at a much higher rate than people do. They also have much shorter life spans than people. We can learn a lot by studying dogs, and can quickly determine which new treatments may be best, for them and for us. University scientists, medical doctors and veterinary doctors are working together on many exciting research projects, including those for angiosarcoma and osteosarcoma.
Dr. Modiano says: "I'm doing something I love to do," which may end up helping people and their pets. Learn more about exciting sarcoma collaborations, some inspired and funded by RIS, by clicking here. |
 Volunteer!
In addition to our Party in the Park planning teams, we have this special opportunity: attend training in mid-May for the "Drupal" platform, and join RIS' web support team. For this and other opportunities, please click here. |
Inspiration...
Our five-year old son lives joyfully. He has been blessed with an abundant life, to be sure, but his happiest moments are not often associated with its most extravagent features. Saturday morning pancakes with the family? Three stay-home days in a row?! A sun-drenched morning, a moonlit sky, or an afternoon spent playing with his brother and sister: these are the things that make him smile.
I wonder, what makes you smile?
