Fascinated by Science
It can be really hard to love sarcoma cells when you're a cancer patient. Yet your future may depend on scientists finding them fascinating. Meet University of Minnesota Professor and tumor biologist Amy Skubitz, who finds cancer cells the most interesting in the body. We can embrace this interest, as she focuses her talents on discovering better ways for doctors to find, predict and stop cancer cells. Often working with others at the University, including her husband oncologist Keith Skubitz, Amy Skubitz has received more than one RIS grant award. What is it about cancer cells? And how can your tumor cells improve cancer treatment? Visit here to find out. |

3rd Annual Mud Dogs Ride! In February 2011, the Minnesota Snowmobile Association will host another Annual Rendevous near Alexandria, MN. And again this year, Eric Skogman and his fellow "Mud Dogs" are seeking pledges for RIS in connection with the 3rd Annual RIS Mud Dog Ride. Eric was diagnosed with sarcoma in March 2008. His energy in creating the RIS Mud Dog Ride has been a real inspiration. Eric continues to undergo cancer treatments, so we ask that you send some inspirational thoughts his way. To see photos of last year's ride, find out what a "Mud Dog" is, and support the Ride, please click here. |

Mini Medical School Commences on February 5
All who donated at least $100 to RIS in 2010 will be invited to join University of Minnesota doctors to learn about sarcoma on Saturday, February 5, 2011. This day provides abundant fun and laughter, which is a really nice irony given the cells encased on those pathology slides. Your life has been touched by sarcoma. Why not see its face? Inspiration...
The night was cold, the moon a sliver. The sky suggested mystery; chalky deep violet extending out forever.
Have you learned to listen, to the sky?
