With mixed emotions, I've put away (most) of the Christmas decorations, and I've hung the new calendars. Here's to a new year and a new decade.

The Mavrick Flying Car
Check out this road-legal Maverick flying car, driven by Steve Saint, the son of one of the five missionaries killed by Amazon Tribesmen back in the early 1960's (there was a movie made in 2006 titled End of the Spear that tells the story). Steve hopes the Maverick will be used in areas where there are no air strips. "The Maverick Sport is the result of seven years of research and development by I-TEC (Indigenous People's Technology and Education Center), a nonprofit organization that focuses on humanitarian outreach in frontier areas of the world" according to AirVenture.org. Steve drove this road-legal flying car from Florida to Oshkosh, Wisconsin last summer for the Air Venture Aviation Celebration. Since then the FAA has issued the Maverick a S-LSA aircraft airworthiness certificate. The Mavrick should be in production later this year.

Yes, it does snow in Oakhurst!
Thankfully, it melts quickly!

1) At the beginning of the show and after the commercials, a still photo shows Lee sliding over one front fender of a blue 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle with his partner standing at the other side. The car has a Chevelle SS 396 hood but a 327 emblem on the fender. However, during the actual show Lee drives a 1964 Pontiac GTO. 2) Nitrous Oxide (N2o) not to be confused with oxides of nitrogen (N0x), acts as an oxidizing agent with gasoline or methanol to increase the rate and efficiency of combustion, thereby increasing horsepower. 3) Olds stopped building wagons after the 1950 model year, resuming production of that body style for the 1957 model year. This stylish wagon is a 1957 Olds Fiesta.  4) The Chevorlet Corvair, equipped with an aluminum-block 140 cubic inch six cylinder engine.
