| Greetings!
On Sunday we were in LA enjoying 80 degree t-shirt weather, yesterday I woke up to a 37 degree frosty morning in Oakhurst. I don't think winter is over yet! But my daffodils don't know that. They've already started to bloom in the flower boxes outside the window of my office. Stop by and see them if you want an early slice of spring!
Enjoy!

| Dan's Weird Discoveries |

Dan has searched high and low to find the ultimate noise maker. Remember the "old playing cards in the bicycle spokes" trick? Well, check this out. Now your 4 cylinder can sound like Dan's '57 Chevy!
How about see through wheels?
For more than 100 years, vehicles have been rolling along on cushions of air encased in rubber. The pneumatic tire has served drivers and passengers well on road and off, but a new design by Michelin could change all that - the Tweel Airless Tire.
Just think of the impact on existing technology: A. no more air valves... B. no more air compressors at gas stations... C. no more repair kits... D no more flats...
E. no more tire pressure monitors..

Those of you who know us well, will be very surprised by the confession I am about to make. Every Monday night for the last 5 weeks or so, Dan and I have put on our PJs, gathered our popcorn and drinks and made the short trek up to Granny's Penthouse to watch her TV. Ever since she has lived in the apartment over our garage, which has been more than four years, she has told us that we are welcome to come up and watch her TV any time.
By choice, we have not had TV since we built our house in 1991. But when Granny moved in upstairs she had to have her FOX news, so she has satellite TV in her apartment. Up until now, we have not taken her up on her generous offer.
So, what would draw us upstairs to watch her TV from 8-10 PM every Monday night? You are not going to believe it: The Bachelor! A good friend of a good friend of ours is Tenley, one of the 25 beautiful
hopefuls. If you've been following the show, you know that Jake the bachelor has narrowed down his choices to 2 girls, and Tenley is still in the running!
We were blessed to meet Tenley on Valentine's Day! We were in Westminster to watch our above mentioned friend perform in "Murder on the High C's". Tenley was there to watch our mutual friend too, and since she had no Valentine date, she sat with us. She is even sweeter and more beautiful than she appears on TV!

| Trivia questions answered
1. During the 1930s, the famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright was designing moderately priced homes. Foreseeing every homeowner having a car, Wright extended a roof from the side of the house, He called this inexpensive open-sided shelter for a vehicle a "carport."
2. Ralph Dale Earnhardt. His father's first name was Ralph. The elder Earnhardt was highly respected as a dirt-track racer during NASCARs early years but never won a major NASCAR race.
3. An outside rearview mirror on the driver's side, which could be installed on the driver's door or on top of the left-front fender. Adding right-side mirrors was also popular. Other accessories were the tapered rubber bumper extensions ("Dagmar's") for the front of the car, and the continental kits for the rear.
4. The latex from which early rubber tires were make is naturally white. Tire makers later began adding carbon black to the rubber to improve traction. |
