Greetings!

Thanks for your patience as we get through our busy spring season.  This early spring has caused our schedules to fill up even earlier than usual.   We've added more staff to prepare for our growing customer base, yet if you have called in just the past few weeks, many of you have had to wait a bit for an appointment and we appreciate your understanding.

While we had some very warm weather in late March, in recent weeks we are seeing more typical seasonal temps along with rain that we are used to in springtime here in Omaha.  There's still plenty of time to start your sprinklers.  Even Howard, owner of Nature's Helper has yet to start-up his own sprinkler system!

If you have turned on the water that feeds your sprinklers, we can still come out and do a complete sprinkler start-up service for you.  What does this include?
  • Turning on the water supply (if not already done)
  • Adjusting or re-setting the controller as needed
  • Inspecting and adjusting heads to make sure your lawn is getting proper coverage (this helps to avoid brown spots in the hot summer months)
  • Recommendations for possible repairs or adjustments based on age of your sprinkler system, new landscaping, or changes in your growing, existing landscaping.

Have You Heard of  Angie's List?

While just gaAngie's Listining momentum in the Omaha area, Angie's list is a membership-based business directory that compiles reviews of local companies and contractors that has been around since 1995 in other parts of the country.

If you are looking for a plumber or painter, (or butcher or baker or candlestick maker), you'll find reviews from local consumers just like you!  And we can help you save 40% on the annual membership.  When enrolling in Angie's List, use promo code: EASY and sign up for just $18.

We all hear on the news of contractors and companies that leave their customers high and dry, or from friends and relatives of a company that didn't live up to their expectations.  As a reputable contractor, we hate hearing of these stories.  Angie's List is a good resource to make sure you are hiring companies that will do exactly what they say they will do.

Celebrate Mother Earth

Earth Day 2012Just because Earth Day was on Sunday, April 22nd, doesn't mean we can't continue to celebrate and show appreciation for earth's natural resources all year long.

Did you know that water is considered a limited natural resource?
At first glance, water seems to be the most abundant resource on Earth.  The reality  is that 99% of all water is tied up in the form of saltwater, snow and icebergs.  Only 1% of the earth's water is freshwater.

Here at Nature's Helper, we are doing our part to make sure we are using our water resources wisely by installing PRS (pressure reducing stem) sprinkler heads that water efficiently and save water.  By
reducing the water pressure, there's less misting, less water lost to evaporation, and larger water droplets for peak performanceThe end result?  Less water used while your grass still gets the water it needs.
  • Each PRS head saves 1 gallon of water per minute over a regular sprinkler head.
  • Switching to PRS heads in a typical 6-zone system can save over 45,000 gallons of water annually. That's the equivalent of flushing your toilet 63 times per day for an entire year!
Whether Nature's Helper installed your system or not, when we repair your system, you can feel good knowing that you're doing your part to conserve our water resources.  Not only do we install water-efficient components, Howard (owner of Nature's Helper) has partnered with the EPA's WaterSenseŽ program to promote efficiency in irrigation design.

Sprinkler Re-models?  We Do That!

Is your sprinkler system more than 15 years old? Or have you had major changes in your landscaping?

Having a residential sprinkler system became much more popular in the mid-1990's and were considered by many to be less of luxury item than it had been in the past.  Now that many of these systems are getting to be 15-20 years old, we've seen a lot of cases where major repairs are needed;  valves need replacing and heads need to be moved to accommodate all the changes in the landscaping over the years.

In many cases, we find it can be more cost-effective to do a complete re-model.  Re-models are cheaper than having a new sprinkler installed because you already have the required plumbing which is a big expense with a new system.  Yet, you still get the updates of a new system including water-efficient sprinkler heads and better design and water coverage for your lawn.

Nature's Helper has re-modeling packages that can be more efficient replacing items piece-by-piece over a few years, and paying the hourly repair rate for each service visit.

Think your yard might benefit from a re-model?  Call us today and we can schedule an appointment!
