Request a Service Call

Greetings!

Whew- October has been a very busy month. Thank you for your patience as we worked to answer and return your phone calls for winterization appointments. We installed a new phone system this summer adding more phone lines, but we know many of you still had to wait to speak with us to set your appointment.

Our crews have been working long hours in order to make sure that everyone's winterizations are completed as scheduled. While we have the bulk of our winterizations completed, we still have a week or two of service remaining.

If you've put off reserving your winterization date, you should make your appointment soon. Please don't wait until the arctic blast comes our way, possibly causing major damage to your sprinkler system.  It's easier for us and cheaper for you if we can winterize your sprinklers before the backflow device is frozen!   If you haven't yet made your appointment, give us a call today.

Win Holiday Lighting this Season!

Just 'Like' us on Facebook to Win Holiday Lighting for Your Home

Big O Show LogoWorking with holiday lighting has become one of our favorite times of year here at Nature's Helper, because we get to take part in our customers' holiday traditions. This year, you too can join in the fun with our Holiday Lighting contest.

This year, we're going to decorate one lucky winner's house with holiday lights. To be entered into the drawing, all you have to do is 'like' us on Facebook by November 30th!

So What's the Catch?

There isn't one. We always have extra product left after Thanksgiving that doesn't get used. And while we have a large customer base for sprinklers and holiday lighting, our Facebook page is woefully neglected. We'd like to increase our fan base and 'likes' on Facebook while helping a family have a magical holiday season at the same time.

Since each home is different, once we draw the winner's name, we'll meet with the lucky winner to create a look that suits the home. We'll take a digital picture of the winner's home and using our specialized software, we'll provide an idea of what the lights will look like once they are installed on the house.

The winner will have the choice of snowflakes or icicle linkables (or another design that we have in stock) and we'll install up to 24 linkables, which is enough to cover an average-size home. If the house is larger, we can decorate the peaks or parts of the eves, while still creating a festive look.  We'll also hang a 60" lighted wreath (or other display that we have in stock, if preferred). If you already have lights up, we can add to your display to make this year an extra-special experience.

Then in January or once the weather permits, we'll remove the lights from your home. No mess or ladders on your part. While you could certainly choose to purchase the lights at the end of the season, that is not our intent. We will simply remove the lights and hope to offer this special opportunity to another lucky winner next year!

Any house, large or small deserves lights, so go to Facebook today and 'like' us by November 30th.

Leave the Drain Valve Open....

You've probably heard us say it before.... After your sprinklers are winterized, it's important to leave the drain valve open all winter.

Why Do we Recommend This?

While it doesn't happen very often, occasionally the ball valve that allows water to flow to the sprinkler system will fail and water will start leaking past the shut-off.   If this should happen, as long as the drain valve is open, water would start to slowly drip out into the bucket under the valve inside your house without ever causing any problems to your backflow device outside.

However, if you shut the drain valve and the ball valve fails, then slowly, water is forced outside into the backflow. And if there's freezing temps and there's water in the backflow, sprinkler mainline and valves, you then have repairs in two places - frozen pipes outside, as well as repairs to the ball valve inside.

Over the years, we've seen a few ice sculptures around broken backflow devices, but we're pretty sure you won't appreciate the beauty in the ice sculptures when you see the repair bill.

A Big Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us in the Best of Omaha contest. We are eager to hear the results and will share them once they are announced in January.
