***Cap2Cap price bump on April 15!***

From the Executive Director
Richmond's Emerging Identity

Did you know that Richmond is ranked 24th out of 180 metropolitan areas in physical fitness?  According to a 2009 report issued by the CDC, Richmond ranks ahead of noteworthy places like San Francisco, Boston and Seattle. (The Tidewater area is 63rd.) Clearly, the running culture generated by events like the Monument Avenue 10K--41,000 participants this year--and the Richmond Marathon have a lot to do with Richmond being a fit town.  Think where we could be if our cycling culture grew like that?  This year, Cap2Cap registrations are up almost 30%, with half being first time participants. The 50-mile route is outpacing the century for the first time ever.  And our 25-mile registrations are almost double from last year.  Obviously, more people are riding their bikes around here.  There are lots of ways to get fit, so let's continue to add cycling to the mix and see just how high our ranking can go.  Check out the Cap2Cap and think about adding yourself to Richmond's rapidly growing (and totally cool) fitness culture.
Hope to see you on May 7!
Beth
