It's Not About The Bike

With apologies to Lance Armstrong, you need to know the Cap2Cap isn't just about riding a bike on May 8. It's about being a part of an incredible project that will make our part of Virginia more fun, more exciting, more vibrant: The Virginia Capital Trail. Whether you want to ride or volunteer, you will love being a part of this awesome event!

  • PRICE BUMP, APRIL 15.  No need to procrastinate until you hear a weather report.  It's always sunny and 70 at the Cap2CapWaiting for other pieces of your schedule fall into place?  If something comes up and you can't make it on May 8, even though we can't refund your money, you haven't wasted your registration fee.  You've become a Foundation supporter, and would then be part of making the Virginia Capital Trail a reality.
Good Point!  I'll register right now!
  • Would your business benefit from being involved?  We have expo space available at Rocketts Landing and Chickahominy Riverfront Park, and ad space in our ride magazine, which goes in 2,000 ride bags and select retail locations. Click here if you'd like to send us an email and find out more about this brilliant marketing move for your business.

  • Do you know an individual or group who would like to volunteer?  It's true -- volunteering is FUN.  Just ask any RABA or WAB member, or any of our other 100 or so dedicated people who continue to support this event.  We're not convinced it's the bright yellow shirt or the free lunch that keeps them coming back year after year.  It could be the free beer, but either way, they love being a part of the Cap2Cap.  And we love having them.  Email Laura Smith or Celine Burn if you're interested in joining the party.  (Can I have the same course marshal spot I had last year?  And can I have it all day? This is real quote from a 2009 volunteer.)

Spielberg and Tarantino...Who?

Announcing the first annual Cap2Cap video contest. Send us a one minute show on what's so great about biking, running, walking or whatever outdoor exercise you're into.  Feel free to take creativity to ridiculous heights -- write haiku, sing, mime, juggle, rock a line dance with your friends, make a complete goof of yourself.

Winner gets a $250 REI gift card.

Not bad for a one minute effort! Go forth, take your video camera and create. We'll use the winning video as a promo tool on our website, youtube and wherever else we can hype our mission, and your cinematic genius.
