Virginia's First Lady to Dedicate Jamestown Trailhead Project This Friday

Let's show Mrs. McDonnell just how important the Virginia Capital Trail project is to Virginia, by showing up in astounding numbers.

This Friday, (3/26) at 10:30--rain or shine--come to the Jamestown end of the Trail, right across the parking lot from the Jamestown Settlement.  Click here for the official news release. We'll have lots of media and dignitaries from all over the state, so this is a great opportunity to make a big loud statement that we love this Trail and hope for a speedy completion!

You'll love what we've done, thanks to generous and talented people like Mason Hearn, who had the original vision for this beautiful trailhead, and the support we received for the project from Dominion, MeadWestvaco and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

And for you who are looking to plan your spring...

  Capital to Capital Bike Event
 Saturday, May 8

Register Online

Registration has surged ahead of last year's event, and based on activity, we're predicting another record breaker this year.  Don't forget our price bump on April 15th.  If you're on the fence about this event, go look at our pictures on flickr and see people just like you who rode and had a great day.  We have lots of elite cyclists, but the fastest growing segment of the Cap2Cap is the 25-milers!  We love new riders, so grab a friend, WD-40 your bike*, and join us for not just a ride but a day to be with a LOT of fun people who support the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation.  We've got Tonic Jane playing at Rocketts Landing--she played last year and was gooooood--and we're working on live music at Chickahominy Park.  We have Buz and Ned's BBQ at both venues so everyone can enjoy their famous barbecue (and of course delicious vegetarian option).

*Bill Agee, of Agee's Bicycles in Richmond, is offering free safety checks for that hunk of rust you're thinking of riding.  For registered riders, he'll give you 10% off parts and labor if a repair is necessary.

So now what's your excuse?  Not in shape?  Let Endorphin Fitness get you ready to ride by May 8.  Register online and you will receive a link to their cycling fitness program and you will then be out of excuses.  We look forward to making this your favorite event of the year.

We'll also make it your family's favorite event.  Bring them, and we'll offer them jobs while you are riding.  It's nice--you will all have the same tired but energized feeling at the end of your Cap2Cap experience and everyone will have their own Cap2Cap t-shirts!  Our volunteers love being connected to this great event, and have stories as interesting as the riders.  Swear.  Email us and let us know you'd like a job.

Thank you again to our Title Sponsor for their support and their beautiful venue for the Richmond start!

And to our valuable sponsors and supporters.
We couldn't deliver the Cap2Cap without your generosity!
