2010 United Way Annual Fundraising Campaign Results |
United Way raises more than $2.3 for the Saginaw County community!
| |
The results of our 2010 annual fundraising campaign were announced on January 25 at our Campaign Celebration breakfast. Thanks to community donations, we were able to raise $2,319,379 to be redistributed back to the Saginaw County community.
"Chairing the 2010 campaign for Saginaw County has been an extremely rewarding experience. It opened my eyes to the vital services United Way agencies provide, it introduced me to those behind the scenes who dedicate their time and talents everyday to help others, and it highlighted the tremendous generosity of this community," said Jim Cross, 2010 campaign chair. "My heartfelt thanks to everyone who LIVES UNITED."
United Way of Saginaw County would like to thank you and our other strong supporters for your help making our 2010 campaign a success! Also, a special thank you to Jim Cross for his hard work and dedication to the campaign!

VITA Program off to a GREAT start
This year, volunteers are preparing taxes at eight sites in Saginaw County through our VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. Even though the sites have only been open for a month, the volunteer income tax preparers have been keeping busy.
This is the second year that Delta College has hosted a VITA site. Volunteers there prepared 35 returns on the first day, which doubled their biggest day last year.
Not only are the volunteers keeping busy at our previous sites, we also have expansions to our program this year. There is a first-time site at Chesaning Library which has been very well received and allows us to branch out to a new area of our county. We also have a volunteer who is piloting the program at Hemlock's Rauchholz Memorial Library to see if it would work well as an established site next season.
Our very successful program continues to grow each year and we could not do it alone. We would like to thank all of our volunteers, host sites and community partners who help make the program possible. Also, thank you to all of our advocates who help let others know about the VITA program. You can find more information on the VITA program, as well as site information by visiting our website. |

United Way completes Relationship Management Intensive Training
United Way of Saginaw County was one of four United Ways from Michigan chosen to take part in a special Relationship Management Intensive training. Five members from the UWSC staff attended a three-day training in Lansing with the other United Way representatives.
Facilitated by Clarity Group, this training offered a unique way to foster collaboration and information-sharing among United Ways as well as helped each organization build constituent-focused business strategies.
Staff who attended the training are now in the process of working with the entire UWSC team to achieve their relationship management goals and objectives. |
