Making the Holidays Brighter for 25 Years through Holiday Wish List
| |
With the support of our generous donors and dedicated volunteers, the Holiday Wish List program has been able to help more than 20,000 families (69,657 individuals). Since 1985, more than $2 million in goods have been donated and distributed by the community.
This year our program was able to assist more than 420 families and individuals with food, clothing, toys and/or personal care items.
Thank you to everyone who has helped make this program a success and has helped brighten the holiday season for others in our community.

Campaign Reaches 90% of Goal
| |
As 2010 comes to an end, United Way of Saginaw County has a lot to be thankful for. Not only do we have some of the best donors, advocates and volunteers - with your help we have been able to accomplish many amazing things this year.
While we count our blessings and give thanks for what we have, please remember to THINK WE BEFORE ME. Our campaign is at 90% of goal. We need your help to raise that last 10%, if not more, so that agencies and community programs can receive the funding they need to continue making an impact in Saginaw County.
Remember when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. Thank you for choosing to LIVE UNITED. |
| UAW Teams up with United Way for Food Giveaway | |
UAW members in Bay and Saginaw Counties donated food to help families in need during the holiday season. The workers donated enough food to create 31 baskets to be distributed in Saginaw County. Workers also raised more than $21,430 in donations to help the families in Bay and Saginaw Counties purchase food and gifts for their children.
Thank you to all of our labor partners who helped make this giveaway possible! |

Volunteer START Applications Being Accepted
| |
Since 2005, United Way of Saginaw County along with the H.R. Wickes Foundation have been offering Volunteer START Grants to high school students in Saginaw County. Each school has the opportunity to fill out a grant proposal, up to $2,000 per school, for the students to use towards creating and implementing a volunteer project.
The grant deadline has been extended in hopes to encourage more schools to get involved. So far we have received grant applications from Birch Run High School, Carrollton High School, Chesaning Union High School, M.J. McGivney School, Swan Valley High School and Valley Lutheran High School.
If you know of a student or teacher interested in receiving a Volunteer START grant, please have them contact Kelly at 755-0505, ext. 211 or visit our website for more details.

| December Campaign Highlights | |
We were very excited to run a first-time campaign at Duclos Insurance and look forward to working with them again next year.
United Way campaign staff was asked to train Nexteer Automotive employees on how to run a successful workplace campaign. Our Nexteer advocates did an outstanding job as they signed up 61% of the new hourly employees to donate to Untied Way.
Thank you to Citizens Bank for their continued, outstanding campaign support. |
