Classrooms to ReOpen October 29!

Long-awaited, the PA budget was finally passed and 233 Head Start/PreK Counts children will finally start school. Unfortunately, the fallout is a markedly reduced school year from 180 days to 160. Eleven classrooms in Allentown and one in Easton were affected.

Education 2010 Supports Literacy Initiative

Thanks for major gifts from PPL, Lee Butz, Computer Aid, Air Products and Dr. Elliot Sussman (all members of Education 2010) CSC began an innovative literacy support program this Fall. With literacy coach-supported computer work and intensive hands-on literacy support, 140 Head Start children will experience this enhanced program. Business may use EITC tax dollars to support this program.

visits Early Head Start/Head Start

A major proponent of quality early education, Senator Robert Casey recently visited CSC to see first hand the work and outcomes with the Early Head Start program SafeStart as well as Head Start. The children in the FA Classroom enjoyed sharing a book with Senator Casey.

swain3Swain Students Help

CSC recently hosted 19 7th grade students from The Swain School. When they arrived to complete some community service hours they greeted us with garbage bags full of diapers. Over 1000 diapers were collected and then distributed to the Early Head Start infants.  The students helped with a mailing for the Northeast Regional Key and also spent some time in the classrooms with the Head Start children.
