| Saturday Classes, Family Day, Mercedes-Benz 10 k Race |
| Everyone, I'll try to keep it short since this has been a high TP communication week....
1 Effective tomorrow, both the 7:00 am and 8:15 am Saturday classes will be a regular Tread Powerfully format (i.e. no Turbo). This means that there will be both stationary and moving muscle with the power walking. We may return to a Turbo class in the future, but with the snow and lack of ability to loop, we decided this would be best. See you all tomorrow as I will be teaching both times.
2 Family Day, February 16th - class will be cancelled on this day so that we can all enjoy our families and hug them with our toned biceps all day long!
3 If you're like me, you always need a goal and when one wraps up, you need the next one to be planned.
On Sunday, April 26th, there is a new race in Oakville downtown called the "Mercedes Benz Oakville 10 k". The race coordinator, Mary Lynn Futers, has been in close contact with me since before the Robbie Burns race and was at our start line on that cold and blustery day. Just take a look at the work she has done on promoting the race and sport aspect of the power walking category (click on event details - FAQs on her website). The fact that you can win (by random draw) a Mercedes-Benz for a year is surely an extra incentive! Registration is now open and since it's a GREEN race, all registration is done by logging onto the website (www.mercedes10k.com) and clicking on "registration". You can power walk or run the race and if you will be doing a bit of both, you would register as a runner.
I know many of you are interested and if you register, please do let me know so that I can keep track of the names as I would like to do some Sunday race-specific training for anyone interested. For many of you, it's time to do this. You have the fitness base, you know how to push hard and your spirit is yearning for a new goal!
See you tomorrow for the balmy weather!
