HAPPY NEW YEAR! Did I mention how much I love this time of year? It's a time for renewal, reflection, and also reduction: we eat less, we try to weigh less, and we try to consume less all around. One of the best ways to consume less is to reuse items you already have. So the Organic Girly is here to tell us about one company that makes its products from trash, the Accidental Locavore has advice about getting creative with leftovers, and Robin Baron has tips on reusing items in your home to update your wall décor.
And what about renewal? NYC is renewing its buildings to make them more sustainable - see Erika's article on the NYC Green Building plan, one of the most innovative in the country.
It is also a good time to make a commitment to renew yourself, using safe cosmetics and other healthy personal care products. This month, Chryso reviews eco-friendly mineral eye shadow, including one from Ferro Cosmetics, a new product line in our shop.
Ferro Cosmetics is Gia's Plum Picks through January. Earn double EcoChipz rewards points on all Ferro eco friendly make up now!
Check out our events section. I am SO excited to be co-chairing the Making Green from Green: Slow Food Meets Big Business event on 2/2. We have a phenomenal panel of speakers, including Gary Hirshberg, Founder of Stonyfield Farms. We will have some of NYCs best sustainable food companies showcasing their yummy goods. If you are in New York City, I hope you can join us!
New this month is our "In the News" section. We get so many nice write ups but often forget to share them with our readers. Of course they are always on our website but why not also put them in our newsletter? Yesterday we had a great mention on RetailMeNot.com. And you may have missed our wonderful review in USA Today's insert on rewards programs.
And now for reflection. I am grateful for many things that come to mind..... But I am also thankful for your support over the last few years, enabling EcoPlum to build its business. So, as always, thanks so much for continuing to let us into your inbox! We hope we are delivering something of value to you in our articles and in the growing array of eco-friendly products we offer. We'd like to hear from you, both good and bad on how we are doing. Wishing you all the best for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling 2012!
Best regards,
