September 2011 Newsletter
Greetings!

Happy Climate Week and happy mid September!  Yeah, we are a little late with our newsletter this month.  You know how it is with back to school and all the craziness associated with this time of year.  We were also holding off until we could officially give you some really good news: EcoPlum has earned the coveted Green America Business Seal of Approval! This is a trusted emblem standing for sustainability and social justice in the marketplace. As an approved business, EcoPlum passed a rigorous screening process demonstrating how its business practices are committed to social and environmental responsibility.  Yay EcoPlum!

One of the ways EcoPlum earned this certification is by the clear listing of the ingredients used in our personal care products.  For example, you know exactly what goes into each of Zosimos Botanicals' natural make up and bath and body care items. Zosimos Botanicals is Gia's Plum Pick for Double EcoChipz this month (see coupon below).  Not sure what to look for in safe cosmetics?  Silvia has a wonderful recap in her article that appeared on the home page of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics last month.  Congrats Silvia!

Fall is definitely finally in the air and it's time for new clothes. Luckily Organic Girly Jennifer Barckley joins us straight from fashion week with her Sustainable Fashion Files.  Our regular writers and some new ones are here with tips on green market shopping, cooking in an efficient kitchen, movie reviews, and an update of the incredible Tar Sands Pipeline protests that brought thousands to the White House earlier this month.

Speaking of taking action, this Saturday, Sept. 24th is 350.org's Moving Planet - a day of Climate Action all around the world!  Find and join an event near you.

Enjoy what's left of the month and we'll be back really soon with our October issue!

Best regards,

From the EcoPlum Blog : We're All in The Same Boat!

Did you ever hear the one about the group who goes out in a small boat together? One of the passengers pulls out a drill and starts drilling a hole underneath his seat. The person next to him is shocked and, afraid that the boat will sink, asks the man why he is drilling a hole in the bottom of the boat.
