They will be screened by EcoPlum and then posted for you and your friends to rate through May7th.  One Grand Prize winner will get 2,000 EcoChipz worth $100 for use in our EcoShop or to donate to environmental causes.  One second prize winner will be chosen at random from all submissions.  See  contest details and start taking pictures and videos!

We are also celebrating earth month by offering DOUBLE ECOCHIPZ on all our eco friendly products!  Don't miss out on this opportunity to rack up the points.  You can redeem rewards for as little as 150 points!

Please enjoy this month's newsletter - we've got all kinds of goodies from our regular columnists on eco friendly teen skin care products, greening the nursery, cleaning out your fridge, greening your home, Martha Stewart's green side, more on sustainable coffee, and my rant on nuclear power.  Always something for everyone!  Plus we are thrilled to have Jaime on board writing for us - welcome!

Have a wonderful month, enjoy the weather, get out there and do something for the earth and earth day yourself!

Meet Our Team. This Month...Jaime!

Jaime Leiman is currently a junior at Emory University, in Atlanta, GA. At Emory she is studying Philosophy, with the intent to eventually go into environmental or animal rights law. Jaime originally became interested in sustainability after taking a course on the ethics of food in the spring of 2010. Since then, she has interned for the Farm Animal Welfare Division of the United States Humane Society, served as a tour guide at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, and is currently an intern for the Emory Office of Sustainability Initiatives. Aside from being interested in environmental sustainability, Jaime loves rock climbing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog. After graduating, Jaime hopes to take a few months off to volunteer for the WWOOF program (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) in New Zealand, where she can spend her time working on an organic farm and hiking in the amazing New Zealand wilderness.

Sustainable Coffee Part II

Last month we introduced you to Tiny Footprint Coffee, a Minneapolis-based company, which plants one tree in Ecuador's Mindo Cloudforest for every pound of coffee sold. This month, we are focusing on two more companies that are doing more than just brewing delicious coffee - they are also pampering the planet by eliminating their carbon footprints.

Your Guide to Envionmentally-Friendly and Carbon Neutral Homes

Trying to proactively live a greener life may seem tough for some people. Recycling could be the first thing that comes mind, but that alone won't reduce your carbon footprint. There are ways that living green can be much easier. An environmentally-friendly home can make that happen.

Dede's Green Scene:  Martha Stewart - Eco-Friendly Living

Martha Stewart has made a name for herself as a guru for all household needs. My mother always turns to her for guidance and I have started to as well (hey, sometimes you want to be the hostess with the mostess!) When I saw that Martha Stewart was asking for vegans to be on her show, I was so excited. I love that the vegan lifestyle is getting a shout out. Read More!

Designing Green with Robin Baron: Greening the Nursery

I think that preparing for a new baby is one of the most joyous moments in life. Equally exciting, is decorating the nursery that will become the home for your new bundle of joy. Creating an environmentally healthy space for your baby starts with a few basic elements, from the floor up: the carpeting, the crib and bedding, and the wall covering.

The Accidental Locavore: What's Lurking in Your Refrigerator?

What's lurking in your refrigerator? Chances are what's green in your refrigerator, has nothing to do with the green lifestyle you're really striving for. By now you've probably long forgotten any and all New Year's goals, after all it's almost spring, and the sooner we can put this winter behind us, the better, right?  Read More!

Chryso's Beauty Buys: Skin Care For Teens

Welcome to my beauty column! This month, we will review an entire product line by Good For You Girls. The Normal Skin Trio line, made especially for tween and teen girls, includes 4 oz. sizes of Gel Cleanser, Purifying Toner and Daily Moisturizer.

The products are the brainchild of Kimberly Grustas and Grace Hvasta-Petrarca, two moms who saw a void in organic personal care products for young people.  Read More!

From the EcoPlum Blog :  No Nukes!

I haven't really thought about nuclear power for a while.  Aside from the occasional goof about how President Bush would pronounce it "NUKE-ULAR" - the past couple of decades have been somewhat free of any thoughts about "Nukes".  I can't say the same about the couple of decades that preceded those.  Read More!
