What's New at www.ecoplum.com February 2009 Newsletter
|
Greetings!
In honor of the shortest month of the year, we have kept the February newsletter short and to the point. This month, EcoPlum Pie's focus is on our EcoChipz program. It's what we are all about - giving you incentives to buy environmentally sound products.
Also wanted to take a brief moment to thank all of you who have been sending us feedback on our beta site. Your feedback is so valuable to us and will help ensure that EcoPlum meets your needs for environmentally sound content, commerce and community.
One more thing: We are having an EcoTipz contest! The first 10 people to submit a new EcoTipz will get an EcoPlum Chicobag! See details below.
It's almost March and spring is right around the corner!
Best,
Gia Machlin
President and CEO
Please feel free to forward this newsletter to your friends and family!

What is the EcoChipz Program?
EcoChipz are rewards points that you can earn through quailifed purchases on EcoPlum. You will earn 1 point for every dollar you spend on a qualified product. Once you have accumulated enough points, you can redeem those points for additional purchases on EcoPlum, or donate them to environmental causes. Awards coupons are available in $10 increments for every 1000 points you accumulate. Most items in our EcoShop qualify for EcoChipz, you can get more information here.
All of our products have been certified, approved, or otherwise eco-labeled by government and respected private third party entities which we call Industry Sources. We then find those products on our online retailers' sites for you, so you don't have to search for them.
It certainly pays to go through EcoPlum to buy what you would normally buy through our online retailers, so you can earn EcoChipz on your regular purchases. But we hope that the information that we provide you in our articles and other EcoInfo will encourage you to switch to environmentally sound products that you have not used before, and earn EcoChipz on them too.
Here are a few products you might like - why not order them today and start earning EcoChipz?

Meet our team members...this month...Yuka!

Meet Yuka. Yuka is one of our awesome senior writers and also helps with editorial duties. Here's a little about her... Yuka was born and raised in
Queens, NY and
received her degree in Business Management from Stony Brook University. After deciding that finance
was not her forte, Yuka completed a second degree in Exhibition Design at the
Fashion Institute of Technology and worked as a graphic designer for
VitaminWater before landing a job at (ironically) an asset management firm.
After three years of trying to compensate for the lack of creativity in her life
by collecting bags, shoes, gadgets, and other random tchotchkes, she realized
how much waste all of her purchases were creating. In September 2008, in a
moment of desperation, Yuka founded Swyyne.com as a guide for urban piggies who
love to consume but know that having nice things does not have to go hand in
hand with harming the earth. Since then, Yuka has been active in spreading the
word about switching to a greener lifestyle, and helped coordinate several
successful ecovents
such as the C.L.A.S.S. eco-materials showroom panel discussion on the future of sustainable fashion, and the launch party for Summer Rayne Oakes' book at the Stella McCartney store for Fashion Week. When she's not contributing to EcoPlum, Yuka also
writes for The
Daily Green, Inhabitat and Ecohookups,
and is a Marketing Strategist at CodeGreen Solutions in New York City.

EcoTipz Contest!
We will review all the submitted tips and publish those that meet our standards for environmental impact. Your tip does not have to be published in order for you to receive the bag - it just has to be one of the first 10 submitted after this letter is distributed.
For examples of EcoTipz submitted by our users, see EcoTipz. Contest ends after the first 10 tips are submitted or March 31st, whichever comes first. | |
