EKS+

This Saturday is the 3rd annual world-wide Eunice Kennedy Shriver  Day - a global celebration in memory of the founder of the Special Olympics movement and a leading international advocate for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.  EKS Day challenges everyone to "Play Unified to Live Unified."  Mrs. Shriver taught us all that through sport we easily forget about our differences and recognize our mutual humanity.

Mrs. Shriver was not only compassionate, intense, focused, and unyielding.  She was brilliant.  She knew everything we create for our athletes - we also create for every person  who has a Special Olympics experience.  When people walk onto our playing fields all over the world in any capacity - if they pay attention to what that experience brings to them, and then they behave that way in the world after they leave - our entire world changes for the better.  What a gift.

Community Day partners SONM with Whole Food Market to raise money and awareness New!

Special Olympics New Mexico (SONM) and Whole Foods Market are partnering on a special promotional event to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics next week.

On Wednesday, September 26th SONM will participate in Whole Foods' Market Community Day at its northeast location at 5815 Wyoming Blvd. The partnership includes a donation of five percent of Whole Foods Market's gross sales (minus taxes) from the day of the event. While the event will drive Special Olympics awareness and fund raising all day, SONM staff and volunteers will be on site from 11am-1pm and 4pm - 6pm.

"This unique program provides Whole Foods with an opportunity to make a difference in our community and empowers local organizations to generate additional dollars for their cause by calling on their constituents to shop with us, a true win-win for all," said Whole Foods Marketing Specialist Nicholas Martinez.
