Any time we gather as a State for a Special Olympics competition, I love looking at us.  I know that may sound funny, but I have always believed that what we wear in the world of sport is far more than just a "fashion statement."  It's an evolutionary statement.
Years ago - I thought Special Olympics New Mexico looked recreational.  We showed up in shorts and t-shirts and some type of athletic shoe, and just by looking, you couldn't really tell in what sports we were competing or to what team we even belonged

 
Posole Ole Fun Walk, Register Now New! 

The Posole Ole Fun Walk will be held on December 1st, 2012. This is a chance for you to kick off the Holiday season of giving-New Mexico style! Hundreds of walker's will come together at the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum to show their support for New Mexico's Special Olympics athletes. Each participant will walk a designated route around the newly renovated museum property.

Individual and Team Registration has begun. To get your registration documents visit
www.sonm.org click on the Posole Ole photo in the left hand corner under news tab.  You can also visit www.firstgiving.com/sonm to create your online giving page.

All dollars raised help to support over 2,600 Special Olympics New Mexico Athletes. 
Rio Grande Half Marathon Raises $1,200 New!

 

SONM would like to thank the many Special Olympics athletes and volunteers who participated in this years Rio Grande 5k Run/Walk. Many, many thanks also go out to Gijima Racing for partnering with Special Olympics New Mexico.

About the 2012-2013 French Athlete of the Game

Since 2007, French Mortuary and Special Olympics New Mexico, in collaboration with Lobo Athletics, have partnered to showcase and honor the achievements and capabilities of our SONM athletes by recognizing them individually at Lobo sports competitions. During the 2012-2013 Lobo sports seasons, dozens of Special Olympics athletes will be honored during the course of the Lobo Football, Volleyball, Soccer and Basketball Seasons.
