 This past weekend we travelled to Farmington for our Four Corner's Invitational - statewide competition in golf, softball, aquatics, and soccer. I loved these Games, and interestingly found myself taking as much time listening to them as watching them. I have chosen to share three things that I heard. The first from a corporate volunteer; the second from a newspaper reporter sent to write about the Games; and the third from a bright-eyed eight year old boy who was competing for the first time

Athletes and Unified Partners shine in 2012 SONM Four Corners Invitational New!
Last weekend more than 1,000 Special Olympics New Mexico (SONM) athletes, unified partners, coaches, and fans arrived in Farmington with a presence that just could not be ignored.
It was the 2012 Four Corners Invitational presented by ConocoPhillips on Aug. 17 - 19 that featured state competitions in Golf, Softball, Aquatics and Soccer throughout the town's best venues, including: River View Golf Course, San Juan Country Club, Rickets Softball Fields, and the Farmington Aquatic Center. Opening Ceremonies was even located in the town's hot spot, McGee Park Fairgrounds.

Local Craft Breweries Taking On The Challenge To Go Over The Edge for Special Olympics New!
Okay craft beer enthusiasts (and of age SONM fans). This one is for you!
In great enthusiasm and support for your Special Olympics New Mexico (SONM) program, three local breweries-Marble Brewery, La Cumbre Brewing Company, and Turtle Mountain Brewing Company-have joined the fun and taken the challenge to go Over The Edge this September. Turtle Mountain Brewing Company has even announced their plan to sponsor and send SONM Rio Rancho athlete Sterling Kriser Over The Edge on September 21st.
From now until September 15th make your way to these local breweries for a pint of delicious beer and help their efforts to reach and surpass their goal of $1,000. You can also support them with an online donation to their team page by clicking HERE.

Safeway Promotion Raises Over $7,000 for Special Olympics New MexicoNew!
As part of the 2012 Safeway People with Disabilities Campaign, a total of $7,351.31 was raised for Special Olympics in New Mexico. Thank you to everyone who participated in and supported this effort to raise money and awareness for our program.
