The Games
 If these London Olympic Games don't hurry up and end, I'm going to have to take a couple days off just to sleep. Aren't they just amazing? So many interesting stories - angles - issues - celebrations and heartbreak. Whether you are a sports fanatic, a patriot, or one who simply enjoys pageantry, there really has been something for everyone, which is revealed in the daily conversations you hear at work, church, the gas station, grocery store, business meetings, parties, etc. The fact is - the athletes and these Games have united the world. The question is- what was uniting us before these Games?

Land Rover Albuquerque Re-Grand Opening Event Raises $2,300 for Special Olympics New Mexico

 On Thursday, July 26th Land Rover Albuquerque hosted a re-grand opening that featured Special Olympics New Mexico as the event beneficiary. Featured guests included Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry and UNM Athletics Director Paul Krebs, who spoke to guests not only about the quality that Land Rover bring to Albuquerque, but also the quality it shares with the program and athletes of Special Olympics New Mexico. "By including us in the evening, Land Rover Albuquerque put our Special Olympics movement in front of new faces and possibilities," said SONM Executive Director Randy Mascorella. "It was truly a classy event and we were grateful to be invited."

New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run News
Texas Roadhouse Tip-A-Cop Raises $2,400 New! 
On Thursday, July 26th New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run (NMLETR) officers laced up the aprons to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics New Mexico athletes during the Texas Roadhouse Tip-A-Cop in Las Cruces.
Over half a dozen NMLETR officers representing the Las Cruces Police Department and Doņa Ana County Sheriffs Office served meals and greeted Roadhouse patrons for a night filled with fun and laughter. The event raised a total of $2,400 for Special Olympics.

Special Olympics Benefit Night at the Southern New Mexico Speedway Raises $9,000 New!
On Saturday, August 4th members of our New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run hosted the 3rd annual Special Olympics Benefit Night at the Southern New Mexico Spee
dway in Las Cruces.
Throughout the event, NMLETR offers collected donations from attendees using race car helmets, while on the track Speedway drivers participated in their own racing games and challenges. To top it off, the Speedway gave a percentage of the ticket sales for a total donation of $9,000 raised.
Special thanks goes out to Southern New Mexico Speedway owner Royal Jones and his staff, Speedway drivers Mike Rosales and Javie Chavez, and also Sarah Q. Stevens for their support and generosity to the New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
