TOGETHER MAKES BETTER
I love watching our athletes compete. There are a few performances over the years that  have for whatever the reason, stayed in my memory. I am pleased to share that last weekend, I witnessed one that is ranking right up there as one of my all-time favorites.
Allison and Emily Roberts are sisters, who competed as a Unified Team in our State Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition. Allison is a Special Olympics athlete and is four years older than Emily. Emily is a competitive dancer, and from the moment these two gracefully walked to the center of the mat, I knew we were all in for a treat.

Cliff's Amusement Park has declared May 19th as Special Olympics Day, offering every  Special Olympics athlete a free ride pass. Park hours have been extended for one extra hour for our athletes. We will be hosting our Victory Dance on site at the Pavilion. As part of this partnership, a $10.00 ride pass is also available to all those who support Special Olympics New Mexico. Gates to the park open at noon and will close to the general public at 7:00 pm and then close for Special Olympics at 8:00 pm. SONM Area Summer Games starts the excitement of our 2012 State Summer Games this weekend
By Erin Gallegos  The 2012 State Summer Games are quickly approaching and SONM athletes participated in the 2012 Area 5 Summer Games last month in order to qualify to compete in the State Games. LETR Tip-A-Cop at Joe's Pasta House raises over $1,000
On Friday, April 27 many SONM families and fans joined dozens of Law Enforcement Torch Run officers to raise money and awareness at Joe's Pasta House in Rio Rancho.
LETR officers Greg Buhl and Lana Elder of the Rio Rancho Police Department; Ana Ortiz of Santa Ana Police Department; and Keith Elder of Sandoval County Sheriff's Office joined forces to raise some $1,033 to benefit SONM's athletes and sports program.
Special thanks to owner Joe Guzzardi and the staff at Joe's Pasta House for being huge supporters of our Law Enforcement Torch Run, Special Olympics New Mexico, and the Rio Rancho community.
Krispy Kreme and LETR present Cops on Doughnut Shops
Turn that sweet tooth of yours into a fan of Special Olympics New Mexico by supporting our Law Enforcement Torch Run next month at the 2012 Cops on Doughnut Shops fund raiser at both Albuquerque Krispy Kreme locations.
Beginning Friday, June 8th at 6pm through Sunday, June 10th at 12pm, dozens of LETR officers will set up shop with fun activities and more to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics New Mexico.
