OH YEAH!

Last month Executive Directors, Board Presidents, Special Olympics Inc. and Special Olympics North America staff, along with a hand full of presenters and vendors gathered in Albuquerque for the 2012 Special Olympics United States Business Meeting.  When you put that many people in a room together who have committed their lives to the lives of Special Olympics athletes and their families - let me just say there stands no chance of anything happening that is typical or ordinary.

First Annual Four Corners LETR Polar Plunge Raises Over $4,000.00

On Saturday, March 10th members of our Four Corners Law Enforcement Torch Run presented the first annual Polar Plunge fund raiser in FarmingtFCLETRon. In only its first year, Four Corners LETR's Polar Plunge raised $4,400, and had 16 plungers registered. Polar Plunge is a popular nationwide fund raiser for LETR and Special Olympics programs, where individuals and teams experience heartwarming and bone chilling extremes with a dunk into freezing waters.

"Every single person who participated in our polar plunge had a lot of fun," said New Mexico LETR's Northwest Regional Coordinator Jenny Dennis. "Participants and fans were showing up dressed in costumes and with groups of friends. We had one plunger dressed up as a cat, and even a small group of Hawaiian hula dancers, who dared the freezing plunge in bikinis."

Special thanks to the following Polar Plunge supporters: Farmington Recreation Center, Farmington Parks and Recreation Division, Farmington Fire Department, San Juan County Sheriffs Department, Farmington Police Department, Groove On The Move, and Majestic Media. Also, a huge thank you to Dr. George Payne and his family for volunteering in a variety of roles. To view photos of the Four Corners LETR Polar Plunge, visit www.fourcornersletr.org.
