Editor's Note
Dear SONM fans,
Happy New Year and welcome back to another season of Special Olympics training and competition! Without fail, each year is destined to bring a lot new experiences to us all, and for 2012 a new look to our SO Brief newsletter is one of them.
Although the layout of our SO Brief may have changed, we promise to continue providing up-to-date information and announcements about our SONM athletes, fans, events and initiatives. We hope you like the new look. If at any time you wish to share with us a comment, suggestion, etc. about our new SO Brief, please do so at sonm@sonm.org. We thank you for your patience and loyalty as we strive to make your online SONM experience better and better. In case you are unaware of other ways to stay informed of SONM activities, check out these additional resources: Website, Facebook, Blog, YouTube and Flickr.

 Thoughts From Randy
It's January, and every year at this time I get caught somewhere between looking back and looking forward. From an organizational perspective I think it's safe to say that in 2011, we hung on for dear life and stayed grateful. We took some risks, said good-bye to too many athletes who passed away, and in over 100 New Mexico communities - we watched in awe as over 2600 Special Olympics athletes did what they do best.
No one really knows what this year will bring. It's hard to figure out who to listen to or what to believe, but inspired by the very qualities that I see in our athletes - here are three things that I am going to do and invite you to consider doing in 2012, as well.
