All ABQ Applebee’s Tip-A-Cop locations rescheduled for Feb. 17th
Rio Rancho and both Las Cruces locations remain scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 27th

Special Olympics New Mexico and the New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run has announced that all Albuquerque located Applebee's restaurants participating in the LETR Tip-A-Cop have been rescheduled for Feb. 17th.

This change does NOT affect the Tip-A-Cop events happening tomorrow, Jan. 27th, at the Rio Rancho locations (HWY 528) and the two Las Cruces Locations--both from 5pm - 9pm.

So come out and join us as officers will be serving food, filling drinks and collecting donations for Special Olympics at various Applebee's restaurants for the annual Tip-A-Cop benefit for SONM's athletes and sports program.  Las Cruces police officers will be at the two Applebee's restaurants located at 2501 E. Lohman Ave and at 1601 Hickory Loop.

For more information about the Applebee's Tip-A-Cop, contact Rhonda Gardner at (505) 856-0342.

Missing Them

Whenever this job feels like work, it takes me longer than it should, but I can usually put it together long enough to figure out why. 99% of the time my mental and emotional state in this job is directly proportionate to how much time I have been able to spend with our athletes. We have not had a competition since November – and all I can say about that is Area Poly Hockey Competition on Saturday can’t get here fast enough.

I miss our athletes and here are just a few reasons why.

2nd annual Mayor's Indoor Track Invitational gives athletes a unique experience

In 2010, over 200 athletes, coaches and volunteers gathered at the Albuquerque Convention Center for the first-ever Mayor's Indoor Track Invitational.  Athletes from numerous SONM delegations were invited to take part in what became a truly unique experience.

This February 19th from 10am - 2pm, SONM and the City of Albuquerque partner again for the 2nd annual Mayor's Indoor Track Invitational, and organizers are expecting another big turnout.

This year, athletes will be competing in the 25M Run, Walk and Assisted Walk, 60M Run, Walk and Assisted Walk, 200M Run, 300M Run and 400M Run.  In addition to the races, athletes will also be competing Standing and Running Long Jump.
