Thoughts from Randy - Blog

Tim's Place

Today my staff and I went to Tim's Place for lunch.  In case you aren't aware - "Tim" is Special Olympics athlete Tim Harris, and his "Place" is a new restaurant in Albuquerque tagged as "The World's Friendliest Restaurant Now Open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Hugs."  There's a lot behind the concept of this restaurant, and you can learn more about it by going on the website - TimsPlaceABQ.com.  However, I am choosing to share my thoughts about how it felt to be there.

The New Mexico Mission of Mercy is coming to Albuquerque

The New Mexico Mission of Mercy, a large-scale dental clinic that provides dental services for adults and children who cannot afford dental care, will be in Albuquerque Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16 at Expo New Mexico (state fairgrounds) in the Manual Lujan Building.

NM MOM in partnership with the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Initiative is asking Special Olympic athletes as well as any New Mexican who does not have enough money to pay for dental care or who does not have a regular dentist to participate. Doors open at 5 a.m. Patients will be seen on a first come first serve basis, so no appointments will be offered.

With last year’s event having brought in over 560 athletes and coaches, from Taos, Santa Fe, Farmington and all over Northern New Mexico, this year promises to be even bigger.

The North Regional Bowling event marks the beginning of the bowling season which opened September 4, 2010. The season lasts ten weeks.
