![]() Moses Two years ago the Eunice Kennedy Shriver (EKS) Fellowship Program was created to serve as a way for building a cadre of professionals to lead Special Olympics programs in developing nations. For six weeks the Fellows receive hands on experience at Special Olympics Host Programs and intensive learning experiences at SOI Headquarters. While in the United States these Fellows also utilize their time developing a Special Olympics project which addresses specific needs within their home countries. The second
annual Over the Edge for SONM has arrived On Friday, Sept. 24th from 9am to 4pm, registered participants, who have raised at least $1,000, will demonstrate their courage by rappelling down the 16-story building. Want to go
Over The Edge? There are still a few rappel slots
open for Friday for any "day-of" adventure seekers. The cost to
rappel is $1,000, which includes a memorable Over The Edge
t-shirt. For more information, call Heather Scott at 505-269-1551.
Inaugural Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day Attention SONM fans! On Saturday, September 25, Special Olympics programs across the world will be joining together to celebrate Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day. Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s actions helped open the minds of all people to the gifts and talents of individuals with intellectual disabilities. In 1963, Eunice held several days of sport for dozens of boys and girls with intellectual disabilities in her own backyard to explore their capabilities in a variety of sports and physical activities. We here at SONM would like to encourage you to honor this extraordinary woman's legacy by inviting friends and family to your backyard for a day of recreational sports, food and fun to reflect Eunice's impact on the world and especially the special needs population.
