Help Us Name Our Monthly Publication Attention SONM families! We want your help to come up with a new name for our monthly newsletter. Please email us name suggestions along with your first and last name and what city you live in to sonm@sonm.org. The winner will receive a prize plus their name and photo listed in the following monthly issue. Deadline to email the name suggestions is Monday, September 13. We can’t wait to hear from everyone and as always, thank you for being a fan of Special Olympics New Mexico! Denny's Promo Be a fan of Special Olympics New Mexico by ordering an All American Slam during your next visit to Denny's. Denny's restaurants are continuing to raise support for Special Olympics New Mexico athletes at home and around the world. When you order an All-American Slam from now through August 2011, 10-cents will be donated to Special Olympics. Proceeds will benefit Special Olympics in local communities across the U.S. and will allow us to provide greater services and programs for the 3.4 million athletes who are part of the Special Olympics movement around the world. Bank of America Promo Bank of America and Special Olympics New Mexico have joined forces to turn everyday purchases into extraordinary experiences for athletes with intellectual disabilities. With the Special Olympics Visa credit card and personal checking account, you can help give children and adults with intellectual disabilities opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and their communities. During the promotion period, for each new Special Olympics Visa credit card with WorldPoints rewards account opened and used, Special Olympics will receive from Bank of America a contribution of $1, as well as a contribution of 15 cents for every $100 you make in qualified purchases. Over the
Edge Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day Attention SONM fans! On September 25, Special Olympics programs across the world will be joining together to celebrate Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day. Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s actions helped open the minds of all people to the gifts and talents of individuals with intellectual disabilities. In 1963, Eunice held several days of sport for dozens of boys and girls with intellectual disabilities in her own backyard to explore their capabilities in a variety of sports and physical activities. We here at SONM would like to encourage you to honor this extraordinary woman's legacy by inviting friends and family to your backyard for a day of recreational sports, food and fun to reflect Eunice's impact on the world and especially the special needs population.

Editor's Note: Greetings SO Brief readers! We know the joy of having an inbox filled with relevant information. That is why Special Olympics New Mexico is giving you the ability to choose what SONM information you want sent to your inbox. Beginning October 1, SONM will be publishing a new monthly newsletter. This newsletter will contain feature stories and photos of our Games, athletes, volunteers, coaches, community partnerships and more. We will still be sending out our bi-weekly SO Brief but that will turn into a “blast” that will only contain upcoming events and competitions announcements. Prior to the first monthly publication, you will be receiving a special announcement to select whether you want to receive our monthly publication, our bi-weekly blast, or both. Athlete
