Coach Steve Alford raises over $65,000

[ALBUQUERQUE, NM] – Special Olympics New Mexico golfer Matthew
Scates prides himself on going the distance.
That’s why he loved
his role at SONM’s annual Golf Classic and Sports Auction
presented by The Payroll Company and hosted by the Four Hills
Country Club this past July. During this year’s tournament,
Scates served as a guest driver at the Longest Drive promotional
hole—helping golfers drive farther by offering up to four
attempts to drive the ball for $20. It was Scates’ talent and
personality that raised a total of $520.
“I love being a part
of the Golf Classic,” said Scates. “The golfers all know me and
they come ready for me to hit for them.”
