Thoughts
from Randy - Blog

Living Proof
This is more than a fleeting image of kindness. This is about a
fourth grade class from Chaparral Elementary School, who served for
five months as mentors, partners, and buddies in Special Olympics
New Mexico’s first Young Athletes Program.
The Young Athletes Program was created to teach fundamental sports
skills to two through seven year old children with intellectual
disabilities. We are using it as an opportunity to engage youth in
our movement and create better understanding and more inclusive
schools through the Special Olympics mission.

Opening Eyes issues announcement to SONM athletes, families and
coaches
The following is
a letter from Healthy Athletes New Mexico's Opening Eyes Clinical
Director Dr. Siu Wong in response to the 2010 Summer Games - Opening
Eyes prescription glasses

Dear Athlete, Family Members and Coaches-
For the first time in many years, the Special Olympics New Mexico's
Opening Eyes program was unable to provide prescription glasses at
this year's State Summer Games in Albuquerque. This was due to an
instrument problem that could not be corrected during the course of
the day. This issue has been corrected.
We sincerely apologize for this unforeseen circumstance and look
forward to seeing you in 2011. In the meantime, please remember to
wear your non-prescription sun glasses whenever you are out in the
sun to protect your eyes.
Sincerely,
Dr. Siu G. Wong
