LETR Tip a Cop fund raiser series has big goals for 2010
By Kristin Garcia

Tip-A-Cop (TAC) is entering its fourth year, adding two new locations. For the first time, the TAC event will be hosted by two restaurants. Applebee’s 11 locations will be joined by 2 Red Robin locations to expand awareness of SONM athletes and their sports training and competition.

TAC is an official Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign fundraising event. Members of the law enforcement community from across New Mexico will assume the position of “Celebrity Waiters” to raise donations for the 2010 LETR. The law enforcement officers that volunteer for this event will perform restaurant responsibilities such as greeting and seating guests, waiting on tables, serving beverages and meals, and busing tables.

Thoughts from Randy - Blog

No Higher Virtue

The language of sport has always been something that rings true to me. Words like achievement, opportunity, character, effort, celebration, determination, joy, respect, celebration, personal best - these are words that grew in me the first time I picked up a ball – the first time I ran with a purpose.

The language of Special Olympics is also something that rings true to me. Words like tolerance, acceptance, dignity, togetherness, kindness, inclusion, empowerment, courage – these are words that grew in me the first time I attended a Special Olympics Games.

Local Coordinator needed in Albuquerque

To a person challenged with an intellectual disability, the greatest gift is that of opportunity.  Through a donation of their time, SONM volunteers work with our athletes giving them the opportunity to train and compete in sports year-round--while helping improve their overall health, building their self-confidence, and strengthening their families.

Special Olympics New Mexico is now seeking someone to serve as Local Coordinator for the Los Altos Golf delegation in Albuquerque.  Individuals interested in working with our athletes and families, as well as with Los Altos Golf Course staff, please contact Chris Page at (505) 856 - 0342 or chrispage@sonm.org.
