SONM sponsor French Mortuary provides SONM athletes
and families huge stage to shine
By Kristin Garcia

Jesse Potter stands on the ramp at the edge of the court watching
the time run out on the clock. He is filled with fear until the
buzzer goes off announcing half time. Now it's Jesse's time to shine
and that fear is instantly replaced with excitement. He walks out on
to the court with his dad and is greeted with the applause of
thousands of fans and knows that he has the support of his community
behind all of his hard work.
Special Olympics New Mexico (SONM), French Mortuary and the
University of New Mexico Athletic department are entering the fourth
season of their partnership aimed to provide SONM athletes a larger
stage to show case their achievements from their year-round sports
training and competition.

SONM needs
your Travel Vouchers to help send athletes to National Games
This July, Special Olympics New Mexico will be sending 20 athletes
and coaches to the 2010 Special Olympics National Games in Lincoln,
Nebraska to compete in aquatics, track and field, bocce, bowling,
golf and gymnastics.
Thanks to fans like you, SONM is able to provide the highest quality
of sports experience to people with intellectual disabilities.
But now we need your help. The cost of travel to National
Games presents SONM with a huge financial challenge. If anyone
has Frequent Flyer coupons for airline tickets and/or travel
vouchers, we ask that you please consider donating them to our
National Games athletes and coaches so that they may experience the
joy of sport at the national level and represent New Mexico.
Please contact Christine Sandoval at (505) 856 -0342 or email
