Thoughts from Randy

Acceptance

Last Thursday evening while driving Special Olympics athlete Kenny Patton home from a sponsor recognition dinner, I became a greater fan of acceptance. Webster's defintion of the word accept is "to give approval to - to receive willingly something offered."

With about fifteen miles to go, Kenny and I decided to listen to the radio. A rock and roll song from the 1980's came on, and Kenny started to sing. He knew all the words and as it turned out, so did I. Without hesitation, the solo quickly became a duet.

Golf Classic and Sports Auction raises $50,000 for Special Olympics New Mexico

It was perfect weather for the more than 100 golfers that came together for the 2009 Golf Classic and Sports Auction presented by The Payroll Company on July 19th and 20th.

The Classic, which was held at Albuquerque's Four Hills Country Club, raised some $50,000 for SONM's athletes and sports program.  About $15,000 of the total raised came from the sports auction and dinner--which featured special appearances from UNM Football Coach Mike Locksley and comments from UNM Basketball Coach Steve Alford.  Special thanks to the Payroll Company, UNM Lobos, and Manuel Lujan Agencies for their sponsorship and support.
