Greetings!

October passed with stable hot weather making for some pretty steady fishing in the Keys with redfish being the most dependable backcountry species.  Bonefishing was sketchy with one day being gangbusters and the next being just busters.  Small tarpon were also swarming around many mangrove shorelines near Flamingo.  Then November came and the wind began to blow!  It was just in time for the Redbone weekend, but more about that later...

Recap of the November Session of the Florida Keys Fly Fishing School

Our Florida Keys Fly Fishing School has just concluded its 20th season of classes.  Over the weekend of November 6-8, thirteen men and women with 4 instructors braved 25mph winds and studied every aspect of saltwater fly fishing, from blood knots and casting, to fish fighting and how to properly handle and photograph that 12lb bonefish once he's alongside the skiff.  Chico Fernandez, Diana Rudolph and Jerry Siem joined me to provide personalized instruction to students that came from Florida, Puerto Rico, Georgia, Ohio and Louisiana.
Florida Keys Fly Fishing School
For those who have not attended, the school maintains a unique blend of focus while not losing sight of the fact that fly fishing is all about having a good time.  From beginners to seasoned anglers there is something for everyone.

I am proud that one of the schools greatest attributes is the outstanding group of instructors that take the time to personally connect with each student and offer their own unique flavor of world class instruction and encouragement.  Their passion for the sport is evident and we're fortunate to have each of them.

If you've never attended a session of the Florida Keys Fly Fishing School, please make plans to do so today, the 21st season of schools kicks off the weekend of February 19th, 2010.  We look forward to seeing you there.
