Greetings!

The Florida Keys have been blessed with another month of great weather and some very fine fishing.  Days on the water have been warm with a wisp of a breeze making it unusually comfortable for August in the Keys.  Quite a few anglers have followed the big tides for some very solid bonefish and permit success.  Those fishing on nip tides have not fared as well on the permit.  The thousands of large migratory tarpon have headed up both coasts for the Carolinas and Louisiana while our substantial resident tarpon can be found especially on calm mornings.

Bill Evans of Islamorada and Ponte Vedra Beach caught a nice permit on fly fishing with Captain Drew Moret near the new moon.  They had over a dozen shots before the cloud cover built up and Drew told me it was caught on one of the crabs from our permit selection special!  He didn't say exactly which crab either!

He also caught a nice permit on the same trip with the big new moon tides!

Off to the Everglades later this week to fish for snook, tarpon and redfish with Sue & Captain Steve Huff.  There should be some great bonefishing in the Keys during September even though tides may be high as we approach the Autumnal Equinox.  Makes for some really good permit opportunities!
