When working on scary movies, Gary Crawford, President of Birdbuffer LLC knew what it was to really scare people. By adding surprise lightening bolts that bring creatures alive in movies or popping skeletons out of the mud, he was a pro. By combining his creative abilities with the way he raised pigeons, he was able to devise a method of bird control by using a liquid grape vapor to keep birds away.
Bird control is a big issue in a food factory. Bird droppings go everywhere and are tracked on the floor that soon end up on ladders, dolly wheels, to be moved around the entire facility. When birds go to sleep at night (we call it roosting), they leave piles of droppings below, making it easier to spot where they are at night. During the day the birds fly, crawl and hide inside pallets, making catching or stopping them impossible. This is a nightmare that keeps getting worse every day.
After spending 25 years of dealing with increasing problem birds, one food factory tried a grape juice vapor machine to keep birds away. It worked so well they decided to spread the vapor throughout the entire facility. By adding a fan they were able to gain bird control and stop the pesky birds from being such a nightmare. The clean up of all bird matter was important as birds are attracted to a bird mess like "waving a red flag at a bull." They charge right in. If they like it there, they decide to stay. Birdbuffer changed the desire from staying, to "just go away."
After the birds left ( a few months), the machine was turned down. But the employees liked the smell and asked to have it turned up a little. "We missed it." Now the mess is gone with no birds while smelling grapes. The nightmare is over. |
