Eye-tracking and EEG: Why both?

Sands Research was the first neuromarketing firm to offer the combination of mobile EEG and Eye-tracking.  Sands Research does offer standard eye-tracking alone studies (lab and mobile based) but realized the power of combining the two technologies.
 
Correlating EEG and eye-tracking data allows for a time-locked analysis of how consumer interaction plays into the perception of the presented material.  Not only a heat map of time spent on the target, but in-depth analysis of the participant's emotional engagement level, whether they were interested or confused (this looks the same on a standard eye-tracking heat map), and  evaluate how much effortful processing is necessary for an individual to interpret what they see.
