Updated FAQs to Help Communities Apply for New Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers
The Technical Assistance Collaborative (TAC) recently updated a list of Frequently Asked Questions about HUD's new Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for vouchers for non-elderly people with disabilities. The document includes over 30 new questions with many answers provided by HUD directly.

You can also listen to TAC's recent webinar providing information and answering questions about these new vouchers by visiting their website using the link above.

For more information about this funding opportunity see VCEH's past newsletter.

We strongly encourage every community to apply for these vouchers. Resources are available to assist. Let us know if you have questions.

NVAHA and VCEH Release "Homeless in Northern Virginia: Local Communities Respond to Preventing and Ending Homelessness"
Homeless in Northern Virginia: Local Communities Respond to Preventing and Ending Homelessness details the policies and programs adopted by six Northern Virginia jurisdictions to prevent and end homelessness. The jurisdictions include the Cities of Alexandria and Falls Church and the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William. Other topics that are addressed include: implementation of Ten Year Plans, and resources needed to sustain them; data management; developing political support and countering policy barriers; and the chronic shortage of affordable housing options for households with extremely low incomes.

On June 15, NVAHA and VCEH will host a regional forum to evaluate the report's findings and highlight the challenges to ending homelessness that are common to all six jurisdictions. The goal of the forum will be to determine whether there are potential regional solutions that allow localities to serve individuals and families experiencing and at risk of homelessness more effectively and more efficiently.

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of the Freddie Mac Foundation.
